Orton Gillingham Reading Specialists offers a unique approach to OG training that is practicum centered and highly individualized. Our focus is on skills, competency and automaticity. Just like OG itself, these courses are structured and sequential, multi sensory, explicit and direct, and flexible.
Our courses are specifically designed to meet the standards of the internationally recognized credentialing organizations and to provide teachers with the high quality training and experience that students everywhere deserve.
All coursework and direct supervision are conducted by Karen Sonday, MA. Ms. Sonday is a Fellow of the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) and a Certified Dyslexia Therapist through the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).
Associate Level Part 1 is appropriate for anyone teaching students ranging from pre-reading through 5th grade level skills. It includes the theory and practical components needed to implement the OG approach with a high degree of fidelity. It is not necessary to take Associate Level Part 2 to be qualified to work with students individually or in small groups within classrooms, resource rooms or one to one settings.
